Thanksgiving Day is a highly anticipated holiday. People prepare for this special day as early as October, planning what to cook for the feast and how to decorate their home in time for the arrival of the guests.
Here are a few decorating ideas to make your home sparkle on Thanksgiving Day:
- Centerpieces – Centerpieces made of dried branches or leaves in autumn colors are just right for the holidays. You can go out of the box when looking for vases for your centerpieces. Instead of traditional vases, opt for vintage wooden spools. Spool vases have a rustic look, which is perfect for the season.
- Serving trays – You will need plenty of serving pieces as you roll out the different courses of your Thanksgiving feast. Try giving your trays height by setting them atop a foam pumpkin base. Cut the top and bottom off of the decorative pumpkin to make it stable. Spray the pumpkin with metallic paint to match the finish of the serving plate. Affix the tray to the base with hot glue if it is unstable.
- A fresh take on a fall wreath – Fall wreaths are traditional, but why not part with convention? Apply a layer of chalkboard paint to the inside of an old tray. Encircle the tray with branches, berries and fall leaves to complete your version of the fall wreath. Write a welcome message with a piece of chalk.
For a low cost upgrade to your kitchen, consider a fake marble countertop. Can’t afford real marble or granite? Opt for a vinyl covering instead. Install a fake marble countertop in time for Thanksgiving. The vinyl is easy to apply to any smooth surface and closely resembles real marble or granite.
